Whole cacao beans are the beginnings of all chocolate products. Rich in numerous nutrients, their delightful crunch mixed with mega flavor, allows them to be easily enjoyed. Eat them as is, or use them whole or crushed in your favourite baked goods or other homeade treats!
Mum’s Original uses the specific heirloom variety Criollo Aribba for its cacao beans. As the original source of all cacao, Criollo Arriba has the richest flavor and greatest nutritional composition. We use natural and traditional growing practices with all of our cacao grown without use of any pesticides, fertilizers or herbicides. Our cacao pods are hand selected then carefully fermented to alleviate bitterness and remove the naturally occurring phytic acid. It is then carefully processed at low temperatures in order to ensure maximum retention of nutrient value. The beans are extracted from the cacao pods and are then cleansed andpeeled. We use artesian processing every step of the way to maximize the nutritional compounds naturally occurring.
